Is it hot outside?

Why do I start a majority of my sentences with the word So?

So I arrived in Los Angeles last Sunday after staying awake all day and all night Kink's style in Kansas City, Misery for my 640 am flight. I spent seven days in Kansas City to stretch my legs before coming to the pit of lost angelic beings. Looking back now, I must say that by the sixth day, Kansas City began to grow on me more than I thought that it would. A lot of people seem to feel empathetic toward Kay See (at least that's what I gather often) and I don't know why. It's understandable that most people don't like to be mugged or shot walking to their grocery store (i was staying in mid town aka lil' Compton) but you can avoid that jazz if you ride your bike around. Furthermore, the suburbs are just like any other suburb in Kansas. Sprawling. What's new about that?

Since I wasn't working I spent a majority of my time riding my bike, eating food, going out, and reading my sister's critical writing text books from JCCC. She also had a copy of Calvin Johnson's powerpop/wimpy/underground 70's compilation tape, which became the perfect soundtrack for my six days of leisure. I grew fond of a dive bar called Chez Charlies. They have a great DJ who spends rare soul seven inches every Friday night.

As for cultural events, I went to a show at the Smell last Monday. My favorite group from the bill was a band called VoicesVoices. They sounded like lots and lots of heavy delay in quick sixteenth notes on dirty jazzmasters.

On Wednesday night I went to a roof top near Sunset and Alvarado to watch Jean Luc Goddard's film, Week End.

I got my old job back at a record store called Canterbury Records in Pasadena. I start work this Friday.

North Hollywood will be my home away from home for two weeks this July because I will be acting in a film called 0's and 1's. My friends told me that North Hollywood is really smelly and hot because it is in the valley. Apparently all the smog from Los Angeles just smolders/drones there.
