2001

I just remembered, while making coffee in my kitchen, that five of my friends from high school joined the military after our graduation. Four years have passed since they enrolled.

From what I know, two of them went AWOL within the first six months. The other three I haven't heard from or seen in four years. I wonder what they are doing now. . .

Anyway, I remember that they wanted to join the army not because they supported the war, but rather, they wanted the money. Killing for money? Dying for money? I still think that their logic was absurd. But hey, we were in a small town in Kansas with little to no opportunities readily available.
