I learned something new today

I learned that I have the power to quit smoking. I'm happy to report that cigarettes have not scorched my lungs in nearly five days and counting. Sometimes, I feel agitated as hell from the lack of nicotine in my blood stream. But since I so desperately want to quit I've learned how to just 'suck it up' and keep going. For the most part, though, quitting smoking has been easy and breezy.

However, I may not be getting off of the sticks without a real smoker's challenge that's coming my way this later week. And that showdown involves me, the car, and a long long road. I'm helping a relative move to Los Angeles right after the new year and will be gone until Monday. If there isn't any better time for a cigarette, it's in the middle of nowhere in Arizona driving 75 mph while listening to Clock DVA.

The 'landlord' or 'apartment manager' of my complex in Kansas City has reportedly fled the country since last friday. The good news is that I don't have to pay rent next month because no one knows how to finance/manage this place.

Recently I've been feeling like I live in slow moving cargo ship that's being steered by a blind captain.

Listening to Glass Candy in the middle of New Mexico at approx. 10 pm is the best drive I've ever had, though the car has a smoking ban.
