Left Behind
the burning sensation of the sun
on the horizon beating upon your forehead
as you face the western world.
thinking
you want more things
you say,
"I got my own way"
everything around you is something that you haven't touched.
You can't relate to anything because you can't place it somewhere.
somewhere that you know.
but the water is constantly moving
above and beyond.
perhaps you shouldn't place.
Moreover, you should just move with it. like the water.
'always touching but never taking'
coming from the center to rotate the ends of the land is a noble activity.
one that takes guts, and more importantly,
gutsy smarts.
the light has it's own way, and falls wherever it sees fit.
the land was not always this way, nor will it be this way for long.
the change is what makes it forever. what makes it being. alive.
perhaps we were this way from the get go.
after all,
"we've got our own way"
it's not the growing up but the growing out that makes the trip worthwhile.
only looking, no touching. which is safer, and much better, because that way the audience can take what they will.
they will see what they are when they see you.
the sun sees us. and we see us through him.
luckily for us, life is only a glimpse. what a shame it would be if we saw too much. got too close.
we might be left behind.
best to leave us wondering.
